Hello, my name is Marsene Plohl of Murray Bridge mplohl@lm.net.au. I don't know who else to ask..Why can't the Government desalinize the sea water? I looked this up on the computer and although I must admit, I know nothing about it, it sounded like a very good idea. I have been told that it is being done interstate, but I cannot vouch for that. I do hope you can tell me if it can be done. Marsene Plohl
I believe Perth infact has a desalination plant which delivers drinkable water to surrounding suburbs. Its a viable resource to have, but it's also very expensive. Expensive to build that is, as for running them, I dont think it's that expensive at all. But they have to find the land, buy it if they dont own it, b uild multi million dollar equipment .. you know how it goes. It can be done by taking seawater, usually through reverse osmosis .. and is quite safe to drink, but dams, creeks and rivers dry up .. so it may not be viable forever.
