It is a good entry level machine. And hard to beat for the price. I have used detectors for numerous years.
Mine is made by white. Cost about $600.
The ability to discriminate is very important. Gives the user the user the ability to “tune out” trash objects. Nails. pull tabs, tin foil, etc.
So is ground balance. Which means you can use the machine in different types of soil.

Seems for the price you really cannot go wrong. He can always buy a better model if he really gets into metal detecting.

For a lot of people these things go the way of expensive exercise equipment. Used for a few times, then just collect dust thus going with an inexpensive model is a good idea.
